WE DID IT!
The first Annual Negus Kloehn 3v3 Memorial Soccer Tournament took place July 17, 2021 in Vail, Colorado. Approximately 23 teams battled it out on the fields of Homestake Peak Middle School. Age groups ranged from U8 to Adult. Many co-ed groups played, mixing talented male and female players side-by-side. Players came from Florida, California and Colorado. The cause was for the mission of Negus Kloehn, who died of epilepsy on April 28, 2020. Negus was an exceptional soccer player who was adopted from Ethiopia at age 6. His dream was to grow up and become a professional soccer player and supply nets and balls to children of Africa, where they often play with balls made of plastic bags and twine and use stones to mark their goals. A non-profit has been formed in Negus’ honor called Save the Ball Soccer for Africa, Inc. Link to press release Negus Kloehn 3v3 Memorial Tournament Save the Ball Soccer for Africa, Inc.
